Safety Conference at Nuvenu

Nuvenu was the venue for a successful half-day Safety Seminar run by our sister company Safety Management Consultancy Ltd, held in our Conference room.

The topic of the free seminar run for existing clients of Safety Management Consultancy, was on the new Construction (Design and Management) regulations 2015.

Topic of the Session

The new CDM regulations aims to improve health and safety in the industry by helping companies to:

  • sensibly plan the work so the risks involved are managed from start to finish
  • have the right people for the right job at the right time
  • cooperate and coordinate work with others
  • have the right information about the risks and how they are being managed
  • communicate this information effectively to those who need to know
  • consult and engage with workers about the risks and how they are being managed

The regulations affect a number of large companies and small contractors, and the free seminar was intended to provide SMC clients with an insight into how the regulations affect them, and what they need to do to comply.

The session was concluded with a very interactive question and answer session where the delegates could ask the CDM expert questions.

Venue

Nuvenu was happy to host the session, and we used both our Antrim and Aspull Meeting rooms, by removing our movable wall to create the Conference spac for the 25 delegates who attended. Tea and Coffee was also laid on for the delegates in the morning and following the question and answer session.

When you rent rooms at Nuvenu are fees include everything you need to make you meeting or training session a success; internet access, projectors or presentation HDTV’s, white boards, stationary, and more.

Privacy

Meeting in cafe’s or restaurants can often lead to additional noise, and a reluctance to share private or confidential information. Our rooms offer private professional meetings.

Location

Our location is very close (10min walk) to Wigan Town Centre and within easy reach of the Liverpool and Manchester, and the towns of Bolton, Preston, Blackburn, St Helens, and Warrington.  In addition, as Wigan has direct rail links, to London and Birmingham, we are also ideally placed to hold a regional meeting in the North West of England.

Nuvenu Wigan opening day celebrations

Nuvenu Open Day

Nuvenu and sister company Safety Management Consultancy held their open day event on Friday 03.06.16 at Sovereign Business Park, KingsCroft Court, Wigan.

The new Mayor of Wigan and Leigh, Ron Conway, and The Mayoress cut the ribbon to open the doors of the newly refurbished two story building close to Wigan town centre. Honoured guest Andy Burnham MP attended, with three local councillors including Lord Peter Smith, Myra Whiteside and Sue Greensmith.

Special guest, ex-Manchester United footballer, David May, also came and donated a signed Manchester united Shirt for a charity auction in support of Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

With a host of guests and businesses from all over the Northwest region, they celebrated the return of SMC back into the borough and the opening of the brand new conference, meeting and training rooms at Nuvenu.

Andy Burnham MP gave a resounding speech on maintaining good health in the work place and the importance of supplying safe places to work in the Borough. Delegates also received valuable talks on H&S law, employment issues and dangerous substances.

Safety Management Consultancy is a UK and international provider of health and safety training and consultancy services for a wide variety of industry and service sectors. The company was established eight years ago in Wigan to provide pragmatic and sensible, yet dynamic and innovative solutions to business tired of bland risk management. They run a variety of accredited training from NEBOSH, IOSH and CITB at their new facility and hope to create a centre of excellence for health and safety training in the region.

Nuvenu is modern flexible hospitable facility, the perfect place to inspire originality and share ideas in the core of the busy Northwest Region. Each of the three rooms offers full audio and visual equipment, in addition to complimentary training and meeting stationary, to ensure clients are furnished with all they need to ensure their meetings are a success. An IT suite, with ten computer workstations, which can be used for computer based training completes the space they have on offer.

SMC and Nuvenu have chosen the Mayor’s Charity Wigan and Leigh Hospice,www.wlh.org.uk, and Lewybody,  www.lewybody.org  to support as this year’s charity. Going forward both companies are looking at hosting more charity events like coffee mornings and sporting events and would encourage others to talk to them about the use of the facility for such functions.

‘Focus’ on our Computer suite

Our computer suite is equipped with 10 individual, Windows Office enabled, networked workstations.  A teaching desk, with an additional computer, can be linked to a 40’’ wall mounted LED TV for teaching and showing all users of the workstations presentations. If you prefer to use your own Laptop, this can also be connected to the LED TV.
The ITC suite would be ideal for individuals or organisations wishing to run computer based training sessions, such as Microsoft Office courses or E-learning sessions.
We can hire the room to clients for either 1/2 or full day training sessions. If you would like to book the room in the evening or weekend this can also be accommodated.
Features of the room include

  • 10 Individual Computer Workstations
  • 1 Teaching Workstation (for use for presentations)
  • 40 Inch LED TV
  • Flipchart and Pad
  • Business Stationery

The workstations are separated with privacy screens to ensure delegates do not view each other’s work and would be useful for assessments. However, the privacy screens can be easily moved thus allowing more interaction between delegates.
Previous clients from the Local Authority have booked our main training room and our computer suite and used a combination of both rooms to conduct vital training sessions on Excel spreadsheets.
